anyone who follows Jesus as the Christ, is growing to submit every area of life to His presence and Lordship by the power of the Holy Spirit, and is taking spiritual responsibility for the other members of their local church.
Our deep desire
is to grow as disciples of Jesus in our love and worship of God, our love for each other, and our love for those who do not yet know the hope of the gospel (good news) in Jesus the Christ. We are formed through life on life connection, life in community, and life on Jesus’ mission together.
THE CHURCH GATHERED
Sunday Gatherings are a chance to gather our Missional Communities together as the whole church on Sundays to celebrate the gospel of Jesus.
THE CHURCH SCATTERED
A Missional Community (MC) is a Family of Missionary Servants sent as Disciples who make Disciples in the everyday stuff of life. MCs are the core at OVC.
BEING
BEFORE DOING
When making disciples through community and while on mission, we root disciples first in their new identity in Christ. We believe knowing who you are leads to how you live. If we reverse this, we’ve created legalism apart from the powerful gift of grace to make us new.
THE WORLD’S WAY
The tendency for all of us is to follow the world’s paradigm, which is always putting us at the centre. The World’s Paradigm is expressed in the phrase: I am what I do.
OUR DOING = OUR BEING
In other words, we constantly feel like we need to perform to be accepted by those around us, and especially by God. This is self-righteousness and it is devoid of God and God’s power.
WORKS = RIGHTEOUSNESS
GODS WAY
The movement of the Gospel doesn’t begin with us and what we do. It begins with God, who He is and what He has done leading to who we are as a result. So, we want to study our Bibles and see understand our identity in light of the true Gospel movement. These are the doctrines of grace. So we explore:
WHO IS GOD? WHAT HAS HE DONE?
Which leads to:
WHO ARE WE? WHAT DO WE NOW DO?
WANT TO DIVE IN DEEPER?
